Surfcasting going off

Surfcasting is going off at the moment with heaps of snapper getting caught on the Kapiti Coast and in Palliser Bay, with good blue moki fishing west of Red Rocks too where the water is clean and conditions calm.

Boat fishers are producing good catches of snapper, tarakihi, trevally, kingfish throughout the region, making the most of great run of calm weather. Hapuku have been a bit quiet but that could change over the next few weeks.

The better snapper fishing has been north of Pukerua Bay and south of Boom Rock.

Harbour fishing is also going well around Evans Bay, Ward Island and Point Gordan.

There is heaps of rays bream around out west, the fish being found in mid-water from 70mtrs downwards, hanging over the reefs. This species are great fun to catch and makes for excellent sashimi.
