There’s finally been an improvement in the weather, and the snapper are starting to come back on the feed out west from Makara northwards. Surfcasters have been seeing some good snapper fishing on the Kapiti Coast now as well.
Landbased kingie action in the harbour has been pretty good with many catches between 10-20kg around Evans Bay, Oriental Bay, Seatoun, and the Hutt River entrance.
When the wind drops there’s been good hapuku fishing and some good ones in shallow water, too (15kg fish in 50-60m). Boat fishing around Falcon Shoal has been really good on snapper recently.
Some good blue moki have been caught at Ocean Beach, the Wainui coast, and around Scorching Bay and Kau Bay in the Harbour.
