Some great fish continue to be caught with some very good snapper throughout Tasman Bay at the moment. The fish have moved a bit deeper and this could be due to the very warm water temperatures that are present at the moment.

There is nice blue water and you can tell it is good, with over 12m visibility, lots of blue bottles, and a number of sharks, primarily blue sharks and mako sharks. Bronze whalers are still around in good numbers as well, and they have been keeping fishers honest when they are chasing kingfish, particularly the spearos.
A few albacore tuna have now been caught here in Tasman Bay – always good to see these fast-swimming pelagic fish down in the South Island. As they move closer, I am sure more and more people will be out chasing them. And you just never know with the way this season has been going, there may just be a marlin with them!
There are a few good months of fishing ahead and I expect to see some very nice snapper caught, so make the most of every opportunity and get out on the water when you can.
Cheers!
