Raglan Fishing Report - October 27th, 2020

29 October 2020

The snapper fishing is currently excellent out of Raglan. Big hungry spring snapper and gurnard are out there from 45m to 65m. The depth can vary a bit, so if you're not doing so well then move around a mile or two until you hit them. The fish seem to have moved north a bit now but there's reports of good catches due west in varying depths too. Saturday saw those in 57 meters smashing while those deeper struggled, which is a reverse from a few days before. Theres also been a few good bin ups in close up the coast but that can be patchy.

Bonito certainly gets the snapper to the boat and once she's all go they will hit any bait. Recurve hooks have been the go whether you are fishing braid or mono.

I heard my first report of Kingfish turning up on the reefs so looks like they are here now finally. There's been the odd trevally in the catches and barracouda are present too. What kahawai are caught are generally in excellent condition and of a good size.
