Raglan fishing report 23rd January 2020
With hopefully the last of the South Westerlies gone and summer Easterlies kicking in, the fish are spread out from the 75 meter mark all the way into the shallows. Deeper areas are holding fish with a healthy bycatch of nice trevally, the odd tarakihi, and gurnard. We even got a nice squid mid water columm on squid bait. The school snapper are now in closer in their usual places in good numbers I am told too.
Kingfish are being caught in one's and two’s in all depths on bait bottom fishing as well as smashing the jigs at the usual structure spots. All of which are in good, healthy size.
The game fish are here too. Albacore and skippies can be caught trolling starting around the 50 meter and out. Raglan has got two Stripped Marlin now and Kawhia also got two as well.
Raglan sport fishing club has it’s annual one day Manu Bay fishing contest this coming Sunday the 26th of January. It’s twenty $20 an angler and all are welcome.
