The usual areas both north and south around the 15-25m mark continue to hold nice West Coast pannies. Fresh bait and squid both seem to be working the best.
Out deeper in 80-100m there are better-sized snapper in good numbers underneath all the tuna and marlin. They really like fresh skipjack tuna, and if you leave it down a little bit longer, once you’ve got one on quite often you come up with two. It hasn’t been taking long to fill the boat with these fish.
If you can get past the gemfish, there are some nice 'puka and bass for the taking.
There have been good catches and releases of marlin just to the north and also southwest of the bar in depths ranging from 95-115m.
Out in the deep there’s been a plague of gemfish on the bottom, so it’s hard to catch anything else when deep dropping.
