Raglan Fishing Report 18 July 2019;
With the winter westerly's in full swing getting out fishing has been a challenge. Once out if you go west far enough you will find hungry snapper.
70 meters and beyond has been producing lately. Just keep going until you see some snapper sign off the bottom. The snapper are nice bigger pannies and the gurnard when they come are a good size and very plump.
Squid is still fishing well and bonito is of course coming into its own as a great winter bait. The usual appearance of the spiney dog fish is here so pack plenty of ready to go rigs, as you will lose gear while binning up.
The other snapper fishing option is to hang in closer around 15 meters as there have been reports of good snapper up to 5kg being caught in here. The bite is generally slower in close but you should come home with a feed.
