With a nice patch of weather here currently, there’s excellent snapper fishing in the 57-metre and deeper range, both west and north-west of the bar. Good, fast catches of nice, healthy-sized spring snapper have been caught in both areas.
There have been reports of the bigger trophy snapper being caught more in the 48- to 52-metre areas, with the fishing being a bit slower or even patchy. But if you’re after an oversized snapper, this might be your location.
Healthy-sized spring snapper are being caught 50+ metres out.
All the baits seem to be working well, with bonito attracting gurnard more than other baits, it seems.
Enjoy this nice patch weather. It looks like it might last for a while and it’s very welcome.
Tight lines.
