Excellent spring snapper fishing continues

The excellent spring snapper fishing continues most days out in the 40 to 65-metre depths west and northwest of the Raglan bar.

Snapper in the 4 to 6-pound range with bigger models of 10-19 pounds are appearing regularly in the catch. When the snapper are a bit slow, the gurnard are there and can be picked up using the oilier baits or fresh strip baits. The better days each week are seeing these snapper coming up two at a time, which is when the big ones get caught in the frantic bite. If you do hit a slow patch, then move in or out until you find some good schooling sign, and you will be on.

Out deep on the shelf also continues to produce well for those that can get out there for a deep drop.
