Raglan Fishing Report 050419

  • Game Fishing, General Saltwater, North Island West Coast - Kaipara to New Plymouth

The snapper fishing continues to be good up the coast in depths of 25 to 30 meters with bag limits reach most trips out if in the right areas. The bigger snapper are back in the catches to after a summer of school snapper. All good baits are fishing well with fresh kahawai being a favourite. There is also some great kahawai too as a by-catch.

The hot spots for kingfish have now slowed with the odd good keeper still reported trolling, but the jigging is now hard going.

There's still a lot of tuna out past 65 meters with large areas reported to the south-west. The marlin count has slowed up but so has the boat activity game fishing.
