Hauraki Gulf Fishing Report 230318

  • General Saltwater, Auckland and The Hauraki Gulf

Over the last few days we've had the opportunity to concentrate on snapper rather than kingfish and it's been both fruitful and very enjoyable! Some nice workup action complete with dolphins is happening around the 42m line North of Waiheke.

The fishing has been hard and fast but the bite can also shut down in the blink of an eye. Slack tide has been slow as per usual.

Kingfish are still around but numbers inshore are thinning. Good-sized specimens will be hanging around spots like Horn Rock and Channel Island right through Autumn.

Cheers!
