Hauraki Gulf Fishing Report - 180919

  • General Saltwater, Auckland and The Hauraki Gulf

It's going off out at Great Barrier. Huge dolphin and gannet workups close to the Broken Islands with big snapper and kingfish in attendance. Big lures are working well, particularly the Daiwa Kohga 150g in chartreuse colour. 

If you can't make it that far, don't fret - the birds are working closer to the Sky Tower with plenty of action north of Rangitoto and up past the Noises to the edge of the cable zone. Softbaits and micro jigs should work better than your classic slow jigs in these shallower depths.

There are a few kingies starting to lurk around inshore - keen topwater anglers out there at daybreak have been nabbing a few at the usual haunts.
