We have recently returned from a trip up to the Three Kings, so don't have too much in the way of first-hand intel for this report.
We did have an epic session on kingfish up to 25kg by Little Barrier before our Far North excursion, but did a charter today out to Channel Island that yielded average results. Maybe the kingfish have gone off the boil finally, although we'd expect nice fishing on the outer reefs right up until winter.
On the snapper front, blindly drifting the 45m+ areas of the Gulf will get you a feed but as always if you can find a work-up things will be far more productive. If last year was anything to go by, gannet activity should start heating up very soon.
Late Autumn is also a great time of year for soft-baiting the shallower areas around the islands, so give this a go for a change of scene or if the wind is blowing.
See you out there!
