Coromandel fishing report 301118

30 November 2018

As we move closer to summer and with the water warming up (18 degrees) it is time to check all your fishing gear and knots because the fishing is definitely heating up!

Fishing from north Coromandel around the islands for live bait is a must before heading out wide for snapper, kings and dory.

Filling the livebait tank has been easy, with the bait balls loaded with mackies and big blue smileys. Filling the bins with snapper is not hard at this time of the year as the snapper head in the Gulf to fill their belly and do their spawn. Using straylines at depths of up to 25m, rigging up the whole pillies or just big dead baits are working well. Flasher rigs are cleaning up out wide with some big snapper coming over the side.

The live bait is as normal producing predominantly the bigger snapper as well as our favourite JD's and some odd kingies.

Now as we head into December, fishing will step up another gear with monster kings and XOS snapper feeding strong.

So come out and book a trip with us!
