Fishing has continued to be productive along the western side for snapper and the key to finding them will depend on the weather conditions. Bright sunny days look in deeper waters and early morning late evening and overcast days in shallow. See a full rundown in my video report below.
On the scallop side there are still plenty of these around and with the season close to finishing don't forget to grab some if you have time as they are still in good numbers and in great eating condition. You can find them in most of the popular locations like behind Rabbit Island as well as Waimate and Goat Islands plus over at Opito Bay.
Remember season closes at the end of March.
I have decided to do something different this time and have put together a short video report on the NZ Kayak Fishing YouTube channel giving a full run down on whats happening with the fishing.
