The weather has been great but the fishing poor (at least for me!). To date, I’ve been out wide four days for one bite… but never give up, it’s just a matter of time!
Meanwhile, I’ve been kept busy at the weigh station. The most meritorious catch has to be Luke Roberts’ first marlin, caught in a 14-foot tinny and on 15kg line to boot! Out to 200 meters and back at the weigh station by lunchtime – it doesn’t get any better than that!
Luke Roberts' first marlin, caught from a 14-foot tinny!
I'm finding it difficult to locate some decent snapper and kingfish but customers into the shop report good snapper being caught in shallow. Softbaiting in the wash seems to be providing the goods, while out in the centre there is plenty of bait but no snapper.
Next on the fishing calendar is the Cater Marine Small Boats competition on the 2nd-3rd March. If the weather looks good, I’ll give it a shot!
Alexandrio from Argentina with a nice skipjack tuna.
Come into the shop to check out the latest in gear, get your bait, ice and berley, and most importantly, some genuine intel! We are open from 8.00am to 5pm, everyday. As always, if you urgently need some supplies after hours just give me a call.
