It appears that if you want a feed of snapper then your best bet is to fish shallow. I have fished the middle of the bay at a range of depths and only picked up the odd fish. Whereas I went and drift straylined across a 7m zone and we picked up a good feed in next to no time!
The gamefishing continues to be poor. Last weekend we gamefished for two days and covered around 400km for a single bite. Most likely a tuna and unfortunately it pulled the hook after 15 minutes with only 50m of line to go! The angler was gutted! Despite the lack of gamefish, the ocean was simply alive with numerous pods of dolphins, brydes and pilot whales, seals, and a few workups seen. The conditions were near perfect so we still had a great time and will continue to chase these elusive creatures!
