Well, the school holidays are over and everyone has gone home. Unfortunately the weather was mostly awful and most didn’t get too many opportunities to fish. On the odd day it was “fishable”, most reported good catches either on bait or softbaits. Regular visitors the Golds fished when they could and young Harry caught a 10lb and a 12lb fish on the softbaits.
The fishing continues to be productive for us in the shallow zones and the fish have certainly been on the chew. The only issue has been fighting your way through the just-undersized fish! As usual, the best fish have been caught on a softbait, with the grub type working best for me. With all this rain the water inshore is dirty and boaties need to look out for floating logs and large debris. I got caught yesterday by an old rope and berley net – stopped the boat real quick, but luckily for me it was relatively easy to remove and the motor doesn’t appear to be damaged.
Harry Gold with a nice 10lb snapper he pulled out of the shallows.
Once the water clears it will be time to do some squid fishing. I’m stocking up for this season and intend to give it a go myself!
Come into the shop to check out the latest in gear, get your bait, ice and berley, and most importantly, some genuine intel! We are now moving to our winter hours, closed Monday and Tuesday, open Weds-Sat from 9.00am to 4.00pm daily, but closed on Sundays at 3pm. As always, if you urgently need some supplies after hours just give me a call.
