Well the wind and the rain and the snow and the frost is still pestering us but not in a bad way, thank goodness.
We are still as a result enjoying some fantastic fishing which is a bonus for it being late in the season. Good numbers of fish are holding in all the tributaries in the Taupo region, which is excellent for those that are still making the effort to fish the rivers.
All the rivers are in excellent condition and quite high. The fish are holding and the cooler weather is encouraging good numbers of fish that are yet to spawn into the rivers. At times it has been a little difficult to cross rivers and the fishing has been challenging. It has been hard to read the water at times too.
There's fish right throughout the river systems and holding away from water that we would normally expect them to be in, some holding in the quieter water and quite a few in the shallows.
It's been difficult to get many of sighted fish interested but for those that have concerntrated on the shallow but busy water, the fishing has been great. Fish are still yielding to glowies and naturals as well.
The river mouths have fished really well where fish are still holding in good numbers. Little pressure and ideal conditions have helped as spring is often windy but we have been lucky that the wind has eased most evenings.
The Lake has fished well too with lots of fish holding shallower and those that are fishing inside of the 200 mtr mark picking up nice fish.
Feel free to call for an update.
