Two months to go in NZ Fishing Comp 2018/19 season

With only two months to go, time is running out to be in the draw to win the DB Export NZ Fishing Competition major prize of an Offshore Adventures charter trip to target the kingfish of your dreams, a stack of top-quality Shimano fishing gear, and a Bradley six-rack digital smoker plus accessories.

At the end of this season, there’s a lucky angler draw for each species and prizes for the champion anglers who catch the longest in each category.

To be eligible for the overall prize (a guided trip to the Mokohinaus with Tony Orton and Offshore Adventures, staying at Offshore Adventures’s Mangawhai Lodge), enter a fish in one of the 10 categories. All up, there is $40,000 in prizes for this season and registration is free thanks to our mates at DB Export. All you need is a fish measure which can be bought online at Fishingcomp.co.nz or from your nearest Burnsco store.

Anglers from anywhere in New Zealand can participate by photographing their catch on an official measure and entering on-line at Fishingcomp.co.nz. The competition has a focus on sustainability – the catch can be kept for food or released, it’s the angler’s choice.

December’s leaderboard changes included two massive specimens for their respective species. A 90.5cm snapper to Mokau fishing legend, Geoff Preston and a huge 73cm trevally caught by Mathieu Poot.

The blue cod honours also changed hands with Brad Carswell’s 60.0cm entry putting Paul Laugesen into second spot.

The lucky angler draw went to Andrew Martin who won a Bradley prize pack of a Cobb cooker and vacuum packer worth $600.
