Surtees Competition Set for Whitianga

Marketing manager Isabell Zitzelsberger says Surtees Boats will be hosting its 18th annual competition over the weekend of February 10-11, 2023, now that restrictions have been lifted. The event will be fished out of Whitianga on the Coromandel’s eastern seaboard.

“Making the most of the hot summer months, enjoying the fishing around the beautiful Coromandel with your crew, as well as catching up with fellow Surtees Tribe members, the comp will take care of all that,” Isabell says.

The event, open to crews fishing from a Surtees boat, will again be a measure and release competition. “We are committed to running a tournament along sustainable lines thanks to the proven contest framework that ensures we are taking care of our precious fisheries.”

Anglers fishing from a Surtees boat will be eligible for the brand’s annual competition to be based out of Whitianga next February 10-11.

“All our amazing sponsors have contributed to increasing our prize pool, to reward not just the best fish, but also the early birds, lucky anglers and boat prizes, as well as best photo prize and hard luck stories. Stay tuned for some surprises around this February’s competition.

A high-value goodie bag will be given to every crew, and thanks to Honda and Garmin, there will be breakfast waiting on the ramp every morning – what a weekend to be part of.

Isabell says the event will likely be a sellout, suggesting skippers get their crews sorted and entered before November 25, the early-bird cutoff date.
