This Makaira reel features: a machined-aluminium frame with forged side plates; helical-cut two-speed stainless-steel gears for increased torque, smoothness and improved gear meshing; and a cold-forged, Type-II anodized, machined-aluminium spool – all protected by a Corrosion Resistant Coating (CRC) process.
The gear ratios are 3.2:1 and 1.3:1, and the line capacity sees 850m of 24kg line accommodated. Maximum drag at strike (while maintaining free-spool) is 27kg; full drag (with free-spool) is 38kg.
These 50WII models come with black livery to match the Composite Deep Dropper bent-butt rod.
Distributed by Composite Developments, Albany, Auckland, and available through retailers nationwide.
