COVID-19 Update: What it means for fishing

COVID-19 Update: What it means for fishing

Here's a friendly reminder of how you can get your fishing fix, whether you're going to be in Level 2 or Level 3:

  • Level 3: The boat/yacht/jetski will need to stay at home, but there's still plenty of ways to catch a feed. Whip out the surfcasters and head to the beach, or try squid fishing - there's plenty of safe places to give it a shot and they're just a stone's throw from the city. Wherever you're fishing just give other fishos some breathing room - your health and untangled lines will thank you for it! If you've never tried kayak fishing, now probably isn't the time to learn.

  • Level 2: All non-commercial fishing allowed, including from powered craft. Stay safe and have fun out there.

You can find all the details about fishing, hunting, tramping etc on Sport NZs list of recreation activities per level: https://sportnz.org.nz/…/Play-Recreation-and-Sport-Detailed…
