Makeover for the Surtees 495 Workmate

Surtees have given its popular 495 Workmate a facelift.

New to the 495 is the transom which now matches the rest of the range. It features a Portofino stern, updated grab rails, powder coated bait station with four rod holders and a tackle drawer and matching black hatch for the battery compartment.

The dashboard too has had a re-jig, with a black fascia and space for the sounder to be flush-mounted.

The 495 Workmate is an outstanding option for those looking for a highly capable, quality alloy fishing boat under five metres. They are a great first boat or for those looking to downsize. With proven Surtees performance combined with easy handling and towing, as well as a small storage footprint, the 495 Workmate has earned itself an almost cult-like status.

Safety comes standard on the 495 Workmate, with airtight pressure tested flotation compartments incorporated into the Tough Deck™ rigid hull design and construction that incorporates six fully welded stringers. Surtees iQ™ technology is built into every square inch of the 495 Workmate, from a smooth, non-pounding ride to good stability at rest – there are not too many smarter fishing boats around in its class.

Some of the key features include a 10-year hull warranty; anti-roll ballast technology; an anti-roll shut off gate that enables water to be trapped as ballast for better rough-water performance; a 70-litre underfloor fuel tank; toughened glass windscreen; good storage in the side shelves; adjustable seating; plenty of well-placed grab rails; plus, a range of smaller but no less important features.

Having the electronics recessed into the dash is a big plus, especially for the security aspect.

Coming off the factory floor ready to fish, other helpful features include a fully-welded treadplate floor, kill tank, six alloy welded rod holders and a practical bait station that incorporates four more rod holders and a handy pull-out drawer for all those smaller items you need to keep close but out of the way.

As well as the standard features, there are plenty of options around rod holders and rocket launchers, flooring, specialised dive ladders, electronics and auxiliary outboard brackets, outrigger bases, berley dispensers and seating.
