Kinloch is located 20 kms north- west of Taupo on the shores of Whangamata Bay.
The concrete boat ramps are extremely well maintained and allow multiple boats to launch and retrieve at once. Although a private marina, it is open to the public for a fee. (Day $20, Week $80, Annual $300).
Kinloch is the gateway is the Western Bays which offer some great tout fishing. One thing to watch for is the swell that runs into the entrance on a south-west wind.
Parking is available across the road at Kinloch Domain.
There is petrol (95 octane) and diesel available on the water at the marina (credit and debit cards accepted) and there is a general store a short walk away, along with a restaurant. Campervan parking also available through NZMA. Berths are available, short and long term.
Full details regarding fees and etiquette can be found on the marina website www.kinlockmarina.co.nz.
For those wanting to launch smaller boats directly into the lake, there is a ramp to the east of the main marina. Like the entrance to the marina itself, it can be affected by south-westerly winds.
