It is little wonder there's some good gamefishing coverage this issue as the season begins to fire up.

There's the news of the first and the best catches to date, including the story of a monster black marlin caught near Mayor Island early in January.

Iconic Kiwi skipper Bill Hall recalls a recent reunion of the only three skippers to ever catch 10 or more marlin in a day – himself, Bob Ash and Bruce Smith.
