Inaugural meeting in Albany

The inaugural meeting of the club was held in the bar of Albany Inn in October 1995. At this meeting, a list of objects for the club’s future was laid down. The primary object being the introduction of interested people, within the hotel, to the sport of big game fishing. Funds were to be raised to enable the club to subsidise members in their bid to catch the ‘big one’.

Today the club continues to operate along similar lines and now, by way of associate memberships, allows members of other fishing clubs in the area, to fishing contests requiring entrants to be affiliated to NZSFC.

We are very proud of out ‘little club’ and, with the continued enthusiasm and support of both members and our local hotel will continue to promote sportfishing in all its aspects, for many years to come.

Members can be found on Friday nights selling the odd raffle ticket, between beers, at the local hotel to keep the funds trickling into the kitty in readiness for the forthcoming seasons activities. If you’re ever passing by, please drop in for a chat. We’ll look forward to seeing you.
