No one likes to pull up anchors — therefore anything that reduces the amount of chain needed, but is more effective, sounds too good to be true. But it’s not!
The concentrated weight of Anchor Buddy acts as a shock absorber and eliminates snubbing (the nautical term for when a boat’s bow rises to a sea and pulls up tight on the chain with a jerk), markedly reducing the swing of the vessel and dampening the surge of waves and wakes.
Anchor Buddy anchor weights are made in New Zealand and is constructed from die-cast zinc-aluminium compound and are compact enough for easy storage. In less than 60 seconds it can be lowered down the anchor warp or chain after the anchor has been set, and can be retrieved before the anchor is bought in.
There are several models to choose from, so all craft from 16 to 60 feet are catered for, with either rope or chain anchoring systems. Anchor Buddys can be demonstrated at a chandlery shop near you or contact Guardian Marine, phone 09 402-6231 fax 09 402-6245 or at www.anchorbuddy.co.nz.
