Okuma Titus Gold reel

These new reels from Okuma look bound to do well.  For a start they’re gold — and then, even more important, they’re lever drags, they possess a level-wind and they’re very, very smooth. They’re built strong, too.

The aluminium body, side plate, spool and drag lever are all cold forged for lightness, strength and corrosion resistance, while the stainless steel gears are precision cut for durability and will give great smoothness — especially as they’re aided by five sealed stainless steel ball bearings.

The drag is excellent. A 175° lever action and preset drag control gives plenty of drag pressure options to the angler, and as the drag washers are heat resistant and ultra smooth, they’ll soak up the punishment from even the longest run. No worries winding them in afterwards either.
