kayak anchor system

Space in a kayak is always at a premium. When it comes to anchoring, the rope , chain and anchor can cause quite a mess so we looked at other options. I now use an old rod which we cut down and added a heavy duty guide.

We then fitted an antique penn reel with 100lb line and the small anchor onto it. The anchor can then can be deployed and the rig fits nicely in the rear rod holder. To retrieve etrieve the anchor, just wind it back up.. no more mess!
