This year, the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show will be a real “home to the stars”, with a huge range of fishing personalities, experts and “gurus” on hand to offer practical advice and answer questions.

Want good advice about a particular aspect of fishing? Then to head to the Penn Reels Ask the Expert area in the Hauraki Fishing Hall - Stand 412. These top fishers will be available to answer your specific questions and offer advice.

Gamefishing - Geoff Lamond
Geoff has hung on to more than his share of 1000lb's Blacks over numerous seasons in Cairns and has plenty of experience on our gamefish here. He's also no stranger to light tackle gamefishing and has achieved world records for his clients. So if you've a question on anything from a bimini twist to what lures to run, call and see Geoff at stand 412 in the fishing hall
General Saltwater fishing and Softbaiting - Bruce Duncan, Terry king, John Eichelsheim and Phil Alder
We're lucky to have a few well known fishers looking after this area over the few days of the show. Bruce needs little introduction and has a proven track record of fishing & catching! He knows where the fish are and has written books on top spots and techniques. Terry King ran the fishing segment of Smart Marine for several years and is a talented, experienced and successful fisherman. John Eichelsheim is a well known fishing journalist who catches far more than his share.
Freshwater fishing & SWF - Paul Dewar and Peter Scott

Paul has captained the NZ team at the world champs in Portugal 2006 as well as leading NZ to a silver medal in the world champs here in NZ this year. In addition he has guided the team to two gold medal wins in the Oceania champs, 2005 in the Rotorua region and 2007 when the NZ team won in Tasmania beating Australia on their home patch. Always good to beat the Aussies!
Peter is one of New Zealand’s most consistently successful competition fly fishermen and has competed in nine consecutive National Championships to date. His achievements include: 1st Auckland Championship 1997, 1st National Championship 1997, World Championship 1998 Poland (team member), Oceania Championship 1998 NSW Australia (team member), World Championship 2001 Lapland Sweden (team member), Group winner Oceania Championship 2002 Tasmania Australia ,

1st Individual National Pairs Competition 2002, 2nd National Championship 2005, Group winner & 5th Oceania Championship 2005,. World Championship 2006 Portugal (team member), 3rd Oceania Champs 2008.
Jigging - Chris Wong
Chris has been one of the pioneers of the newer styles and to some extent the resurgence of jigging in New Zealand. Jigging is possibly one of the most effective methods for targeting kingfish and Chris has had his hands on a few big ones. If it's a jigging question you've got, then ask Chris.
Kayaking - Stephen Tapp
Stephen continues to push the boundaries of kayak fishing, both in the equipment he uses and the species he has targeted. With snapper over 30lb to his credit and more than enough over 20 to make us all green with envy, Stephen is your man for any kayaking questions. (check timetable for Stephen's times)
Spearfishing - Mike Smith
Mike has a 169kg bluefin to his credit amongst many other XXXL species. He has been freediving and spearfishing since he was 12 and has a wealth of experience to draw on. Last year Mike opened the store Ocean Hunter down in the Viaduct.
