The Tairua Pauanui Sports Fishing Club is loacted within the tranquil harbour between the towns of Pauanui & Tairua. Spectacular fishing is at the doorstep with Shoe and Slipper Islands within a couple of short miles of the harbour entrance and provide fun safe fishing year round for both the family and the seasoned serious angler. The Alderman Islands area is within 11 miles of the coast and provides challenging populations of fish species whilst the big game pelegics flow in and around this area from around late December. World class diving is avalible in countless spots nearby and spearfishing also has a reputable name out of Tairua.
Facilities and Amenities
The clubrooms sit above the main Tairua wharf on Tui Terrace and offers the best views in town out along the harbour. The club house is fully licenced with meals avalible Friday-Sunday during the busy weekends. Ample car parking is avalible at the club and the Tairua Ferry is close at hand for those needing to get to and from Pauanui.
Mooring for larger boats is avalible in the harbour with diesel avalible at the main wharf. The system for payment of diesel requires contacting Murray at Tairua Ferry services beforehand - great rates avalible.
Trailer boat lauching facilites can be found at both Paku by the Dive Shop and the main wharf in Tairua and at the jetty in Pauanui. Petrol and diesel can be purchased from the Tairua BP in the main street and all the food and drink supplies you'll need are simply across the road at the Tairua Four Square.

Membership Application
New anglers must be registered at the Clubhouse or contact Club Secretary Tina Larsen on 07 8647585 prior to leaving the harbour. Alternativly before you go fishing put your name, address and conatct details in an envelope
with the appropiate funds and deposit it at the clubrooms (after hours) in the brown security box on the ground level attached to the pillar in the basement.

Up & Coming
9:00am onwards - BBQ Breakfast at the Club Rooms and open to EVERYONE. Perfect before you head off to the annual Tairua School Food & Wine festival around the corner. The club rooms are right by the wharf making it on the way to the festival for both people arriving on the fairy from Pauanui and those coming from the Tairua Township. From 7am onwards and only $10 each the meal includes the full monty.

New Year One-to-One Contest where club members compete for the Fred Dixon trophy which is awarded to the heaviest fish regardless of line weight. A great earlybird contest that can be won with any of the recognised species, from Kahawai through to Marlin.

Breifing at the clubrooms on Friday the 9th to register for this light tackle and tuna bonaza. Prizes for tunas, and a seperate set of prizes fro other species caught on light tackle. Spot prizes and giveaways!
Our club finished a repectable 17th equal in the 2006 Nationals with Whangarei Deep sea Anglers Club and the Whangaroa Big Game Club. Our club's top two teams tied with four Striped Marlin a piece! Lets take another step in the 2007 Nationals. You can fish one day, or all eight, a huge range of species to chase.Contact Club Secretary for entry details.
A popular tournament which sees a huge turnout of ladies for what is a great fun filled day on and off the water. Loads of prizes, giveaways and of course, fancy dress at the prizegiving on Saturday night. Weigh in between 5:00pm and 6:00pm on Saturday. Briefing at the clubrooms on Friday Night the 9th.
