Fishing Reports

The Store report for July 21-26

Good morning, well the day is brightening and snow is falling on the mountains as I write this....

The weather over the weekend followed the pattern that we have had over the past couple of weeks where we have had a lovely latter part of the week and a days fishing on Saturday but by Sunday we have returned to chocolate coloured, high rivers which is a shame.

A few showers this week should hold up the volumes that the rivers have already and with a little additional colour and the fish holding off the mouths waiting to run, maybe we might be in luck.

The rivers this morning are fishable with a wet line, good colour with volume brought about by the higher water table and higher lake level.

Those anglers that were lucky enough to fish the latter part of last week did well especially on the T.t and the smaller streams... lots of fish and great conditions. Nothing should change this week once the rivers recover again adn there are still loads of  fish that are waiting to move.

The big river fished spasmodically over the past week, with volume and colour like all the rivers, but fish holding off their traditional lies. There have been changes in all the tributaries with the volume of water that washed through in the biggest flood for sometime altering and scouring out some great new holding water.

The smaller streams will drop away a little slower with a higher lake level, but that doesn't mean that the lower sections can't be fished, so just make the most of the opportunities. Fish a wet if it looks a little full and you should have some success.

River mouths will fish well over the next few nights with dark nights.

Feel free to call for an update, and or accommodation

cheers Pete and Stella
