Good morning, it’s another wet day with some fine spells and further rain in the outlook but it looks as if it may finally be settling.
We have had a tremendous amount of rainfall over the past couple of days and as i write this the rivers are all very high with lots of colour, this is a bit of a pain however we have been wanting rain for some time now. The rivers will run high for at least two or three days while the lake is lower, they will drain quickly but it’s been a great deal of water over a short period of time and will take time to ease throughout the fishery.
The streams that will be fishable over the next few days will be the spring fed Hine and the Waitahanui, which have colour from run off today but will no doubt clear quickly. The Otamangakau is another source but will be busy with anglers and guides trying to fine clearer water to fish.
River mouths and the lake will be a little dangerous for a time as the rivers drain and debris clears, take care out on the water especially if you’re boating as there are many logs and trees that are floating around the lake edge.
Feel free to call us anytime for an update cheers Stella and Pete 073868953.
