Fishing Reports

The Store Report for Oct 11-16

Good morning, what an exciting time with lots of visitors here for the rugby who are taking advantage of our great fishery. We have had a little bit of rainfall, mainly heavy rainshowers that have passed over the last 24 hours and which are in the forecast for the next day or so.

With some sunshine and calm clear conditions as well, so I don’t think that we are going to get a lot of volume out of the present weather pattern, though that can change quickly. We have had some rainfall overnight and rivers have not really reacted other than a little bit of additional run off.

Rivers are all in excellent condition and the fish are holding right throughout the fishery which is great. Good numbers of fish have been caught in all the tributaries over recent days, the rivers are relatively low and clear but the fish are continuing to move freely.

Both wet fly and nymphing have caught fish while the river mouths have continued to fish consistently too. There is no lack of choice at present. Fish the busy but shallow water for best results, not too heavy and maintaining contact with your nymphs.

Lake fishing has been great too and little wind and calm conditions especially on the eastern lake zone has helped. Fish are shallow and happy to take a fly harling earlier and later and a lure or fly during the day. Its been 4-5 colours and brighter lures doing well.
