Fishing Reports
Fishing GREAT! . . . Finally!
Excellent fishing on the Ruamahunga and Wainui! Warm weather has induced some great surface activity of late. It's not uncommon to hook into a dozen or more fish on each of these rivers if you get your timing right.
The Ruamahunga is full of Rainbows around 2lbs with some great conditioned Brown's amoung them up to 3lbs. Both species are rising well to Royal Wullfs during the day in the riffles and a #14 Adams in the slow pools during the morning and afternoon hatches. The Ruamahunga really has flourished as a Rainbow fishery.
The Wainui during the afternoon is also producing really well, fish averaging 3-4lbs absolutley nailing small dries in the riffles, especially in the lower reaches below Whites Bridge. Make sure you go fine in you tippet diameter.
The Hutt is low and a lost cause. 'Fish & Game, this river really does need to be stocked just to get it back on it's feet again'!
