Fishing Reports

Have plenty to report on the fishing scene and will do so in time – next week.  Right now every focus has been and will continue to be an the constantly unfolding events surrounding the grounding of the “Rena”.  After the first week since the event the winds were all from the north, thus concentrating all the oil and spilt containers onto Western BOP beaches.  Now with westerlies forecast over the next four days, this all changes.  So, very painfully we wait to see what will befall us and our precious coastline, islands and fishery.  Currently there is an exclusion zone placed from the western bay to Matata – anyone caught fishing in this productive zone faces a $20,000 fine.  The zone is likely to be extended eastward.
