Pete Radomski with a cople of nice ohau trumpeter caught last w/end
The hapuku have been running well at the Trench and on the West coast recently. 70lb is our best from mana so far this season. This is the time to catch a real biggie prior to the annual spawning run in late July. The bluenose fishing at the Trench has been a feast or famine. Last w/end they were averaging 8-12kgs.
There continues to be excellent snapper fishing in the harbour particularly off Point Gordon and off the west coast in the deeper water (50 - 100mtrs). We did catch a 20lb snapper in 20mtrs at the Mana bridge last w/end.
The kingfish are not altogether gone either. We got smoked by a few off Turakerei last w/end and caught one small one. Kapiti has been firing off the north end for kingis up to 30kg recently. Pete Radomski caught a nice kingi and some trumpeter and trevally down Ohau way last w/end. Nice one Pete!
There were two snapper caught over 8kgs off Pt Gordon on Friday and 3 over 8kgs on Saturday (confirmed reports).
