Plenty Of Sailfish In Vanuatu

With Xmas and New Year behind us now we look forward to another great year of fishing in beautiful Vanuatu. We have been experiencing a proper wet season with lots of rain and humidity. The fishing has been generally very good. It’s been a little slow on the mahi-mahi and wahoo scene however it’s been easier to catch a sail fish. There has been plenty about.

The marlin fishing has been very good as well. One particular day late in December on a live-away trip we raised 5 X blue marlin and tagged 2 for the day, just a little unlucky on a few of the others. On another day on the same trip we caught 23 yellowfin for a morning. Unfortunately they were all less than 10kg in weight but great fun on the appropriate tackle.

The Port Vila Game Fishing Club with the assistance from several carter boat operators is about to deploy several more F.A.D’s to replace the ones cut off by Greenpeace last year. Greenpeace are on a mission to remove all F.A.D’s between Australia and Fiji. They are some misinformed impression that the pasaine netters are hammering the F.A.D’s in these regions.

The water temperature is still only 27deg c which is quite cool for this time of the year. So we are expecting the good fishing to continue on for the next month or two.

There are some great deals being done by airlines if you are contemplating coming to Vanuatu so if you need any help please get in touch with me.
