Whangaroa Report

Over the last week the weather has been kind to us and the fishing is really starting to pick up.

Nice fat tarakihi off Taupo Bay and down by Flat Island. The snapper have started to bite out on the sand and in the harbour - we saw some good sized snapper caught in the harbour on the way in on Sunday.

Plenty of kings around, taking live baits and jigs, also some nice Hapuku in the deeper spots and live baits are worth a try for them. There are nice sized john dory around in the shallow and a bycatch in deeper water when live baiting for kings/hapuku.

There is plenty of bait fish in the harbour, and some of the koheru are BIG//marlin bite size.Water temp on Sunday am. at 100m was approx. 18.5deg, no marlin yet..
