RnR has been out on the hard undergoing her winter maintenance program and after launching today, is ready for action. Winners of the day trip out on RnR will be departing Mangawhai for an action packed trip to the outer Hauraki Gulf Islands. Just prior to the haul out the Puka had started appearing with some nice pups brought aboard.
Today we received from Mfish notice that Charter Boats will be required to report your catch. A right pain in the 'did they ask us first!'
We object strongly to this dictatorial approach, especially as we have to pay for the 'privilege'.
Charter boat operators are required to fill out the form, even if customers catch no fish and get this, if the boat is not used, operators are still required to send in a nil return.
This will cost punters more to get out on a charter and along with the new Maritime NZ systems which will inevitably end up costing more (why else do they change things?) will eventually cost you the punter more. If the punters stay home in their droves, then expect the charter fleet to reduce in size.
The minister will be at the Bucklands Beach Yacht club this Friday, if you wish to hear about it from him, be there at 10.30am.
