Good morning, well we have been spared the dreadful weather over the past few days with weather warnings in abundance but luckily we haven't had even a whiff of rain, a little bit of wind in some of the more exposed places but generally the weather has been pretty good.
Rivers have all dropped away and cleared from previous rainfall that fell in the earlier part of the previous week. The rivers are all in excellent condition and have good volume.
Generally anglers have found the fishing a little harder over recent days, with rivers having dropped and the lake level holding at a much higher level than it has been, has tended to push the fish into water that is difficult to read. Unless you're prepared to fish across a variety of water, it can be hard to find what is actually going on. Most of the fish have been pocketed and with that it has meant that to cover water with a wet line has been the best and most productive method. Those that have nymphed and fished lighter and closer have been luckier that those that have fished heavy and the heavier water.
Fish are holding right throughout the fishery in all the tributaries but a little harder to get onto than when we had volume and colour. You just need to prospect the water and stick to sensible leader lengths and weight for best results.
The weather has been coolish but not cold and the wind has been though from a southerly quarter its not really annoyed us enough other than the exposed spots that copped a bit yesterday monday .
We are expecting some more rainfall but how much and if it turns to the south we may not even get it. The southerly often brings fish, lets hope that the weather gods are giving us the good oil. Little of what has been forecast over recent days has been right.
Fishing the mouths have produced some fish, nicely conditioned but not great numbers as yet, the rips are harder to determine with a higher lake level, which is to be expected. Nice to spend a day or so off the drop offs when the weather is so calm and pleasant. Always a good spot inside of the mouths as the light fades and the evening draws in, and if the forecast proves to be correct, should provide some good opportunity over the next few days.
Boaties have been subjected to a bit of wind but choose you time and you should be fine, fish are holding in a little closer and shallower and in pockets which is the norm for this time of the year.
