Fishing Reports

The Store report for July 2-6

What a fantastic day, sunshine, heavy frost and no wind at all, its going to be a good couple of days with some rain that is forecast to hit us later in the weekend but at this stage maybe we won't get the deluge that is forecast for the upper part of the north island.

Fishing has been a little harder with the rain that fell in the earlier part of the week and the higher lake level, having an affect on how quickly the rivers have dropped. The rivers though now have dropped away, and cleared but still have a reasonable amount of water, more that we have had prior to the rainfall.

Anglers have found the fishing a little more challenging in the earlier part of the week, but as the rivers have dropped you have had to fish quite a lot of water to find the fish that are dotted in pockets. Those that have fished a wet line have been able to determine where the fish are and as a result have had slightly better results.

There will be some but not a lot of pressure over the weekend with school holidays starting, and with so much water to fish to and fish moving the opportunities are great.

The heavy frost always tends to pull in a good number of fish and with the rivers being in such good condition and the weather at this stage looking good, its a great time to get onto the water.

Lake fishing likewise has been settled and fish are being caught both harling and also a little deeper, brighter colours working well. Little in the way of wind, though a slight southerly and a turn to the south easterly as the weekend lengthens. Lets hope that we don't get too ,much rain out of the next front, with it turning to the south and then some sunshine in the forecast for next week.

Take care on the water and feel free to call for an update and or accommodation cheers stella 073868953
