Fishing Reports

The Store Report June 15-18

Fantastic, get your rods together and get down here, the fishing is magic and the rivers are as in great condition,

We have still got rain and some wind from the southerly direction which is extremely cold, also a little flurry of snow flakes earlier in the day shows that winter is really here.

Rivers have all had lots of volume and colour over recent days from the heavier rain that fell with the combined fronts that moved over the country over the past 4-5 days. At times the rivers have been unfishable but thank goodness we have spring fed streams such as the Hine and the Waitahanui which, though they had additional volume and some colour, continued to produce some very nice fish under pressure from anglers.

The rivers have all recovered well over the past 24 hours and have lovely colour and good volumes,  and the fish are moving quite happily. They are well located throughout the length and breadth of most rivers. Wind at times and the cold has been a bit of a challenge but the results have well outstripped the cold.

The next few days are forecast to be settled cold, and sunny at the same time with little wind and a real frosty start. Great conditions for getting out onto the water and making the most of the conditions at present.

For the most, it has been great to see and catch some wonderful well conditioned fish and no lack of them over recent days. Wet and the nymph producing equally as many fish to the angler.
The season looks as if its going to be a cracker and it is very positive to be able to say that the fishery is in fine shape

River mouths will ease as flows ebb, and for those that aren't scared of getting frost bite the smaller mouths should produce some good fish as will the bigger mouths both off the drop offs and inside of the river mouths accordingly as conditions allow.
