Fishing Reports

The Store report for June 10-14

Good morning, well we have had some interesting weather over the past few days with lots of rain, little wind and snow on the mountain including Tauhara in Taupo which does not happen very often.

We have had a considerable amount of rain through the river systems over the past few days. Some parts of the fishery got more rain than others and this has resulted in some rivers fishing a little more productively. The big river has a great deal of water off the Waipakihi catchment, which quickly turned to snow as the southerly swept up the island!

The Tongariro has taken a little time to drop and still is looking quite milky as I am writing this, sediment that has been lifted and carried from point to point and in the river from the previous fresh which brought a great deal of debris into the river. The river will fish a little better once it clears completely and the volume drops out of it a little more making it a bit easier to fish.

The smaller streams have all started to produce fish and some good fishing too, with some that have been in the river for a time a little darker and still in great condition and today Thursday, there have been some very nice, feisty silver freshies appearing.

Still, some anglers are struggling and needing to fish a number of spots to find fish. Fishing light and the inside of the seams with glow bugs, and naturals are working best and still a good number of fish being taken on the top nymph as the fish move through.

River mouths have all provided some excellent results, good rips, a little more lake water and river water than there has been over recent weeks.

Boaties have been governed by the weather and though we have a mixed bag in the forecast its still looking good for the weekend.

Feel free to give us a call for an update or accommodation anytime,
