The fishing up here out of whangaroa is really starting to hot up - a good blue weighed in the other day, a large tuna lost at the boat after a long fight and it goes on.
It gets better every day.
The snapper have only come on the bite in the last week. Some good sized fish caught but a lot of pan sized ones around. The tarakihi are still around, but are starting to thin out as the warm water moves in .
Still getting good sized kings on the jigs in deeper water and there are a lot of rats around but with the odd big one amongst them. Some good john dory are around and on the foul past Stevensons Island there is a good variety of fish to be caught.
In these same areas there are some good sized mako sharks and on North ground there was a Large hammerhead cruising around a couple of days ago amongst the schooling fish. If the weather stays as it has been we should have a great season up here.
