Fishing Reports

Double Rum Diary - November 2009

Probably the best inshore fishing we have ever had was in the last 7 days.

We have been out to Great Barrier , the fishing was steady, some nice fish caught. The wind out there was pretty horrendous but the boat and crew handled it. Our guests had lots of dives and picked up a few crays plus a various assortment of nice eating fish.

The inshore fishing in the 30-40 meter mark is the best we have seen for years, in particular, out the back of Tiri Tiri is going off.

This last weekend was probably our best 3 days of fishing results ever. Our biggest snapper in was 25lb (9 kilos) on a soft bait rod - we let it go after pictures were taken. Most fish in have been between 4 - 6 kilos with also many in the 7 and 8 kilo range.

Huge days for the punters and crew onboard.Ledger rigs with squid seem to be the favourite menu at the moment with soft baits (white ones only) also doing severe damage.
