Great weather at the moment , no rain! We fished several areas this weekend and here's the summary:
Friday 19th - we fished the middle ground 60 mtrs, hard fishing for snapper. Barracuda everywhere, dismal results. A lot of effort went in for little return.
Saturday 20th - went out for a trial fish at the northern / eastern end of Little Barrier due to southerly wind coming up.Fished shallow/ fished deep/drifted and again dismal results. Great day but not so many fish . Used a lot of berley and still struggled.
Sunday 21st - went to Centre Island, Port Jackson area . Fished the Colville Channel deep 180 feet ,caught some snapper plus Barracuda. Hard slow fishing. Went shallow around Centre Island ,nothing there to speak of. It was so chilly we were more likely to catch a cold!
Spoke to several guys who fished in the inner Hauraki Gulf area, in the weed around 5 mtrs at Rangitoto. This was productive. Also off East Coast Bays ,Takapuna - Devonport in the shallows at 8mtrs has proved good.
We will try there over the next few days.
