Fishing Reports

whangaroa report

It's been great weather up here. The hapuku fishing has been good in the deep water and some have been caught in 80m last week so they are moving in. A lot of these fish are full of roe.

We dragged tuna lures all the way but didn't catch the target species - skijack, so it's pretty clear they have moved on to warmer water.

There have reports of good blue nose catches and there are plenty of  kings around,e ven in shallow water, and these fish are fat..

The snapper fishing is hit and miss at the moment. We got some tarakihi on the sand the other day so these fish are moving in also.

The harbour is full of large koheru at the moment and plenty of slimey mackeral which are ideal baits for kings.
