Whangaroa Report

Last week was a good one. Snapper were on the bite in the harbour especially on the sand off Taupo Bay and Tauranga Bays.

Along with tarakihi and trevally, there are pink mao mao, red snapper, school sharks, and a few rat kings in the 35-40m line.

On the pins out the back of Stevensons Island and further out at the 200m drop off, there are good hapuku, large tarakihi and more school sharks.

There's a lot of bait fish out there as well, with gannets and mutton ducks and dolphins feeding, but the water is still green = hopefully that should change very soon,

We dragged a bit of plastic there and back and in between hapuku shots but no bites, This should be a good one according to the forecast, remember the old saying "no gear in the water you wont catch anything"...
